What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small files a website can save in your browser. "Local storage" is a similar browser feature that keeps small pieces of information on your device. Both let a site remember things between visits.
What we use
We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. The only things we store are essential to how the site works, and they stay on your device:
- Saved calculations, kept in your browser's local storage if you choose to save a result.
- Theme preference, so the site remembers whether you prefer light or dark mode.
- Banner dismissal, so a notice you have closed does not keep reappearing.
None of this is sent to us or used to identify or track you. Because it is strictly necessary and stored only on your device, it does not require a consent banner under UK rules.
Affiliate and third-party cookies
If you click an affiliate link and leave our site, the retailer or affiliate network you arrive at may set their own cookies to record that you came from us. Those cookies are controlled by them under their own policies, not by us.
How to control or clear storage
You can clear or block this storage at any time in your browser settings. Clearing your site data will remove your saved calculations and reset your theme preference. You can also use private or incognito browsing, which discards this storage when you close the window.
If this changes
If we ever introduce analytics or other non-essential cookies, we will update this page and, where required, ask for your consent before they are used. See our Privacy Policy for the bigger picture.
